DHS to accept expanded DACA applications starting 2/18/2015
The Department of Homeland Security has announced that applications for benefits under the recently announced expanded Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) program, sometimes referred to as the DREAM act, will be accepted starting February 28, 2015.
President Obama announced the expansion of the program in November, 2014. DACA previously included people who were between the ages of 16 and 31. Now people of any current age who entered the United States before the age of 16 and lived in the United States continuously since January 1, 2010 can apply. The new expanded DACA now increases the period of work authorization from two years to three.
